課程概述

本系學生對於西洋史學比較陌生, 一方面是因為這方面的課較少; 另一方面, 史學理論及方法日新月異, 從一九六０年代以來, 史學的新趨勢就經歷了社會學, 人類學及文化史的幾種重要衝擊, 更重要的, 後現代主義對傳統史學進行了相當大的顛覆, 對於這些變化的掌握, 將其深入淺出的讓本系同學能吸收, 是開本課的最大目的. 本課擬主要從幾篇有代表性的文章中，作為楔子，在研讀過程中，介紹西洋史學的主要精神及派別，並從一些史學名著中得以一窺西洋史學史的大致面貌, 希望透過這些介紹及研讀，使得同學能對西洋史學有一較全面的概念.　本課也會略論最新的西洋史學理論,　如後現代史學, 使同學得以在進行史學的訓練過程中, 可以知道當代最流行的趨勢, 在未來的研究中有所參照，以得事半平縣妙?　 

課程目標
 同學若要有收穫，必須自己先預習，準備得愈多，愈能有進步，上完本課不但能對西洋史學有一基礎性的認識及概括的了解，更能對於目前位居最前沿的西洋史學理論有所認識，並且有能力直接從原文中理解，作為進一步對話的基礎。 
課程要求
 平時及期中的表現為50%, 期末考的成績佔50%.
